about us

ClimActs is a non-profit, voluntary-run performance collective. We use spectacle and satire to highlight the urgency of the climate and biodiversity crisis. In calling for climate justice, our performative actions hold to account powerful polluters and their enablers (politicians, financiers, media)
responsible for the climate crisis.

Our extensive experience has convinced us that strategic, performative direct action can communicate important and sensitive information in non-threatening and yet enormously effective ways.

Although most of ClimActs’ performative work is self-organised, we gratefull accept commissions to perform. Our performance art pieces have featured at the official opening of the Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2104, in numerous creative interventions for the City of Ballarat (2013, 2015), at ArtCOP21 in Paris (2015), at the official opening of Janet Laurence’s experiential installation H2O: Water Bar (Sydney Festival, 2016), at the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (2016), at the Biennale of Australian Art (BOAA, 2018), and at the official opening of Janet Laurence: After Nature at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (2019).

You can assist in the act of holding polluters and their enablers to account by sharing our work. The more recognition, the more powerful our message is the next time we appear.
